Reality View™ - Productivity, Flexibility and Interactivity

CAE-Net Solution Brings Unique Features/Benefits to Design Collaboration and Review

Reality View ™ Offers More Productivity, Flexibility and Interactivity to Design Team Members

Indianapolis, IN—October 07, 2002— CAE-Net™, a global network of companies focused on engineering and information technology solutions, has announced the commercial availability of Reality View, an immersive visualization system. Reality View eliminates the need for a dedicated “cave” environment for on-site viewing, replaces traditionally burdensome equipment with portable, flexible components, and allows design reviews via a web browser for remote locations and/or field offices.

Reality View, which resulted from the refinement and combination of several separate technologies, was originally created by CAE-Net in response to industry demands for the integration of design applications to create a single view for product development and collaboration through the review process. The Department of Defense is currently using Reality View and CAE-Net is now making the product commercially available with unique features and benefits.

In its configuration as a commercial computer-aided-design and engineering tool, Reality View allows manufacturing and design companies to save time, money and travel. It permits on-site viewing in 3-D stereo on any wall surface, remote location 2-D viewing via a web browser, and provides a heterogeneous CAD environment for all participants. Reality View uses all 3-D Stereo CAE/CAD/ CAM application software and supports AutoCAD, CATIA, IDEAS, PRO/E, Microstation, Solidworks, Unigraphics and other packages, with no loss of data from time-consuming translations. And, it supports these applications simultaneously.

Patrick Hurley, Chief Operating Officer CAE-Net, noted that the new product offers very distinct advantages to today’s budget-strapped businesses. “Reality View all but eliminates the necessity of traveling to design reviews, coordinating participant schedules, booking hotel rooms, etc. All you really need is a password and e-mail address. This streamlining of the design process, in turn, contributes to other major benefits: a decrease in time-to-market and increases in manufacturing productivity.”

Long also noted that the Reality View physical unit is a portable and mobile solution - all on one rolling cart. “Many of the current marketplace alternatives include bulky screens that require hours to take apart and put together, and very heavy projection equipment. We anticipate that Reality View will be in high demand throughout a corporation because it is so easy to use and move.”
